INSTANT, FAST, QUICK, these are all words that are familiar to us in the modern day, as we have all built an expectancy to have our needs met in a very timely manner.
… And of course why should we not!
We have Fast Food, Instant Drinks, Fast Cars and Fast Technology.
So why is it that Pain cannot be cured instantly?
Don’t get me wrong, medication can mask symptoms quickly and other treatments can ease them, but curing long term Back Pain instantly is an illusion.
We have all been brain washed to believe that our health is controlled by external factors and that we can all be cured now!
This is all so understandable, as I too have seen the cleverly marketed Paracetamol ‘curing’ Pill for Back Pain and the 10 minute “AB device” advert between my “Only Fools and Horses” marathon.
In my opinion, Health is an inside job, and so is the healing of Back Pain.
The moment you make the shift from looking externally to looking within, you will make progress and true recovery from your Back Pain.
At certain points in time, events or people can prompt us to reflect.
For me, like lots of other people, it is the coming to the end of a year and what a year 2016 has been.
2016 has been my first year as a Pain Relief Coach and I am feeling really privileged to have helped many clients who were victims of chronic pain to become pain free.
In addition, on a more personal note, I married in October.
As wonderful as the day was, it also primed up some family issues that provided me with an opportunity to face and resolve some old buried negative emotions.
I remember a month before my wedding experiencing some neck and shoulder pain and also the feeling of it dissolving once the day had arrived.
This pain provided me with great insight into the turbulence that life changes can bring and the importance of “checking in” with ourselves frequently.
The process of “checking in” is very simple, if you are experiencing pain or tension, then just ask yourself the following two questions:
1.What is going on right now or in the near future?
2.How do I feel about this?
Your answers to the above questions will provide you with insight into the potential source of your pain/tension.
With this knowledge you can then try and find a way to make this change more comfortable, which in turn will help you to reduce/resolve your pain.
