“Eat less and exercise more” is often the advice given for weight loss.
If only it was that simple and our minds were that robotic!
The reality is that we are illogical beings who are easily conditioned, have different personalities and who often find change scary and challenging.
In my opinion, the reason why weight loss is difficult for some people is the many attachments they placed on food.
For example, it often appears to be more about how food makes us feel rather than the nutritional content that drives us to eat.
In addition to feelings, unconscious beliefs also play a large part in why we choose certain foods and the amounts we consume….
As an example of this, I once met a lady who really struggled to lose weight. She tried every diet, recruited the best personal trainers but still she could not achieve any long lasting results. But when this lady finally reflected and tapped into her unconscious mind, she realised that it was her anxiety that was holding her back, as she believed that if she lost weight then she would become more attractive to men thus potentially putting her cherished relationship with her loving husband in jeopardy.
The same approach can be applied to pain, where if we tap into our unconscious we tend to discover unconscious beliefs/thoughts that are preventing the pain to go, for example:
I have not worked in years; I’m worried that I may not be able to do my job now?
I really did not enjoy my job; I don’t want to go back!
Would my partner give me less attention?
If I am no longer a Chronic Pain sufferer, who am I?
So I urge you to also reflect on all of the possible undercover reasons that maybe holding you back from being pain free……
As a little awareness can often pave the way for life changing results!
